Talented ACF Horse Woman Wins Awards

Article written by Cheshire Army Cadet Force

PI Susan Williams from Mold and Buckley detachment has demonstrated her equestrian talents by winning the Medium Level Dressage and overall champion for 2017 at the Forces Equine Championships to add to her other national awards.

Susan, who has been riding for many years, did not appreciate that she was now eligible to participate in Forces Equine activities but their mission is to encourage and improve the Armed Forces & Emergency Services equine sport and cadet instructors and cadets are eligible to participate.

Susan was competing with riders from across the wider forces at Moreton Morrell College Ashford Arena in Warwickshire with her 17 year old horse Tara aka Shady Lady. Susan, a former cadet, joined Clwyd and Gwynedd ACF in October 2016 completing her FAM in February and is currently undertaking her initial adult training. Her son Evan is also a Bradley cadet.

Susan is thoroughly enjoying her cadet career commenting that it has been a great confidence booster and she would encourage both adults and cadets to fully participate in all the ACF has to offer. Susan added I would like to encourage other adults and cadets with horses to get involved alongside their cadet activities.

Major Gavin Jones OC of Albuhera Company congratulated Susan on behalf of all in the company. Who knows Susan may encourage more ACF riders to participate in future events.
