Trooper Dylan Hinton
My Name is Dylan Hinton, I have been around the Forces Equine community for quite a few years, with my mother (Lisa Hinton) being a member, my father (Capt Danial Hinton) being in the Army, and me going to a Military Boarding School (Duke of Yorks Royal Military School) to now being part of the Household Cavalry Regiment.
I joined the Household Cavalry Regiment in 2018, and since then I have been exceptionally lucky with the opportunities I have been given in such little Time to me joining, in April 2019 I passed out of khaki (A 12 week intense riding course) following that I got enrolled to the kit ride phase, where individuals learn to ride in full state ceremonial kit, in Oct 2019 I performed in Morocco with The Household Cavalry's Musical ride, since returning from Morocco performing for the king I was lucky enough to become leading file for the musical ride at Olympia 2019 along with conducting ceremonial duties such as the Queen's birthday parade, garter service and every day Queens lifeguard duties.
Being around the Forces Equine Community I can say with great confidence that everyone from the founder (Debi Heath-French) to ambassadors and members are extremely welcoming but also with members living the same lifestyle as you whether that iss Army, Navy, RAF, it's great to have people that support you and understand your day to day life.
I have been riding since the age of 4 years old, and have been extremely lucky with the opportunities and experience I have received. As most serving Personnel with horses will know, it's not always easy to find the time to get out to competitions, Training or even to exercise your horse on a daily basis, however we all make it work which is why I have the upmost respect for all Forces Equine Members, who strive for what they love to do.
